Herbert I. Abrams holds a doctorate in Human Behavior from Alliant International University. He received his bachelor's degree
from Whittier College and holds an M.S. and M.Ed. from the University of Southern California. Dr. Abrams is a psychotherapist in private practice in Los Alamitos,
California since 1970. He is a retired Adjunct Professor of Psychology, Pepperdine University. Dr. Abrams' specialties are in the field of children and adolescents.
He also treats individual adults, couples and families. He has served as an expert witness in both Los Angeles and Orange County courts testifying in behalf of children
and adolescents. Herb Abrams has written in the field of humanistic psychology publishing Humanistic Relationships Between Teachers and Students, which was well
received by teachers, students and parents. He has also written a book devoted to Art Therapy for Children of All Ages.

Lois M. Abrams has treated couples in her clinical psychotherapy practice for over 30 years. She is an approved Supervisor for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a former President of the California Association for Marriage and Family Therapists. Dr. Abrams served as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology. She has written three books dealing with interpersonal relationships. Dr. Abrams appeared on CBS Eye to Eye, as the treating therapist for a couple in marital crisis. She lectures and conducts workshops throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She was one of three co-leaders who worked with the renown Humanistic Psychologist Dr. Carl Rogers, conducting the first humanistic workshop held in Warsaw, Poland. Since 1999 Dr. Abrams has worked with Duke and Romeo, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, doing animal assisted therapy in both her psychotherapy practice and the greater community. With Duke Lois responds to disasters and traumas.

Duke, "Sheeba Anakin," is a
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel born in May 1999. He is a toy breed that dates back to the 15th and 16th Century in England.
Duke began his Animal Assisted Therapy work when he was a one year old in May 2000.
He and his handler are a certified Pet Therapy Team by the Delta Society. He has put
in over 130 hours in animal assisted therapy work and over 600 hours as a "co-therapist" in Dr. Lois Abrams' psychotherapy practice in Los Alamitos,
California.
Duke began his crisis response work in January 2002 with HOPE Crisis Response Animal Assisted Emotional Support, Portland, Oregon.
In 2002 and 2003 Duke and his handler responded to The Williams Fire in the Angles National Forest in southern California as well as
the Sunset Hotel Fire in San Bernardino, California. He has worked over 80 hours in crisis response. Additionally, Duke has traveled
to New York and worked at the fenced area memorializing Ground Zero in August 2002.
Duke and Dr. Lois Abrams have made presentations at universities, professional psychotherapy conferences and workshops and community service
groups, as well as the Cavalier of the West meetings. Together they have given over two dozen presentations about animal assisted therapy
and "Natural Healer as Co-Therapist" including HOPE Animal Assisted Crisis Response and Animal Assisted Emergency Services Disaster
Training Workshops.

Romeo, "Cloudbase Merlin," was born in December 2002 and is certified by the Delta Society as a Pet Partner and holds a
Canine Good Citizen certification from the American Kennel Club. He has trained to work in teams for Animal Assisted Therapy visits and well as traveling via many transportation modes including boats, wheelchairs and scooters. Romeo enjoys community and university presentations as
well as serving as a "co-therapist" with Drs. Lois and Herb Abrams. Romeo especially enjoys working with babies, children and teenagers.
